Can I drive with an exhaust leak?
Briefly, but it is not worth it. A leak can pull carbon monoxide toward the cabin, skews the oxygen sensor readings your engine tunes by, and grows louder and more expensive the longer it vibrates. Most early leaks are an inexpensive flex pipe or gasket fix.
How do I know if my catalytic converter is bad?
A P0420 code, a sulfur smell, a rattle from underneath or sluggish acceleration. Important: converters rarely die of old age — a misfire or a failing sensor usually kills them. We fix the cause first, otherwise the new cat fails the same way.
Why is my car suddenly louder than usual?
Usually a failed flex pipe, a corroded joint or a blown gasket — common on Florida cars, where humidity works on every weld. It is a repair, not a whole new exhaust: we fix the failed section and keep the factory system intact.
Do I need an OE-spec catalytic converter?
On a European car, bargain universal cats frequently bring the check engine light straight back, because they do not meet the factory efficiency thresholds. We fit converters that meet OE spec — more than a bargain cat, less than doing the job twice.
