ABOUT THE SHOP · DELRAY BEACH, FL
It started with a BMW E30
that wanted to be faster.
Nobody opens a European repair shop by accident.
Our story began with a BMW E30 that wanted to be faster, a dental technician who couldn’t stop thinking about cars, and an electronics wizard who came in as a customer but left as my best friend. Together, we learned, built, failed, improved, and never stopped chasing perfection.
Years later, that same passion still drives us. We believe every repair should be done as if the car were our own. No shortcuts. No guesswork. Just honest work, the right tools, and a team that genuinely loves European automobiles.
This shop wasn’t built by investors or corporations. It was built by passion, friendship, and an obsession with doing things right.
European cars are our specialty — but the standard is the standard. Domestic makes come through the bay just as often, and they get the same diagnosis, the same OE-grade parts, the same written estimate before we touch anything.
- 1995
A shop is born in Delray Beach
Master toolmaker and mechanic Dumitru Manta founds Very Best Foreign Cars — a shop built on old-school precision: measure it, machine it, make it right.
- 1997
The E30 that wanted to be faster
Half a world away, a friend brings his 1980 BMW E30 into the garage with a simple ask — it has to be more. Suspension tuned, brakes upgraded, the engine reworked for real power. The car leaves faster, sharper, alive. That build sets the direction for everything that follows: cars don't have to just work — they have to become the best version of themselves.
- 2003
The first garage
We open our first shop, working side by side with Florin — the same Florin who is still in the bay with us today, more than twenty years later.
- 2004–08
The projects that made our name
The first BMW E30 in the country with a genuine M Power S50B30 engine. The M7 — a 1991 7-series rebuilt end to end with an E30 M3 body kit, a modified M5 engine and a manual gearbox. And air-cooled Porsche 911s, when no one else would touch them.
- 2008
The search for a new home
We lose our location and start looking for a place that fits the way we work. The search ends in Florida.
- 2013
Two schools of mechanics meet
We meet Dumitru Manta. His old-school mastery — hands that can make a part, not just replace it — meets our modern diagnostics and electronics. The combination clicks instantly.
- 2014
The keys change hands
After a season of working together, the founder hands over the shop. The name stays. The standards stay. The obsession stays.
HOW WE WORK
Old-school hands.
Modern diagnostics.
A modern European car is two machines in one: precision mechanics with decades of tradition behind them, and a rolling computer network. Most shops are good at one. This shop was built from both — a founder who could machine a part from raw steel, and a generation raised on electronics, diagnosis and data. That combination is what your car walks into today.
